Give Your Swimwear a Second Life: Our Recycling Initiative

We're passionate about reducing clothing waste and finding sustainable solutions for your swimwear. Initially, we ran a direct recycling program, but we were genuinely shocked by the sheer volume of swimwear we received – and from all over the world! We even had pieces sent to us with the tags still on, which really highlighted the problem of overconsumption. We quickly realised that the amount of shipping involved was counterproductive to our sustainability goals. So, we've made it easy for you to give your old pieces a second life by connecting you directly with established charities and recycling centres. By cutting out the middleman, we're minimising shipping and getting your swimwear directly into the hands of those who can make the most of it.

How to Recycle Your Swimwear:

Below are some fantastic options for recycling and donating your swimwear and other clothing items in the UK:

If your swimwear is in good condition (especially children's swimwear or rash vests) and could be reused, TRAID is a perfect choice. They work tirelessly to prevent clothing from ending up in landfills.

Donation Options: You can donate via their home collection service, drop off in-store, at a clothing bank, or post your donations to them.

Free Postage: Send your items to TRAID for free using any Collect+ outlet in the UK. Get your free postage label here.

Dunelm offers in-store textile recycling drop-off points at most of their locations.

They accept textiles that have reached the end of their useful life, which are then repurposed into new items in their Conscious Choice Remade collection.

More Information: You can find more information about Dunelm's take-back scheme here.

Find your closest Dunelm store on their website.

Oxfam accepts donations of good quality, reusable swimwear and clothing to be sold in their shops.

Items that cannot be resold or reused are sold to reprocessing companies and transformed into materials like mattress filling or carpet underlay.

Free Postage: You can send your donations to Oxfam for free using their postal donation service. Get your free postage label here.

Not in the UK?

While free global textile recycling options with individual shipping are limited, there are still many ways to sustainably dispose of your unwanted clothing. We recommend checking these options:

  • Local Council Recycling: Please check with your local council, as many councils globally offer free textile recycling programs. Search online for your 'city/country textile recycling' to find local options.
  • Local Charity Shops and Donation Centres: Donate reusable clothing to local charity shops or donation centres in your area.
  • Clothing Swaps and Online Marketplaces: Consider organising clothing swaps with friends or using online marketplaces to sell or trade your unwanted clothing.
